My Colorful Patios... Come And See!

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! Whew! I'm beat! We have been working in the yard the entire weekend. As I said yesterday, I weed eated (edged) the front and back. I also planted flowers in the front and finished up the patios. I have really flowered them up as Kevin would say! lol...I do love flowers! You might remember I had the striped pillows made. They really add a pop of color to the green sofa and chairs we recently purchased at Wal-Mart.

I found the rug at Home Depot. It really made the patio feel more like a room.

I love having the metal stand out here to display flowers and accessories on. I added three pots of begonias to the coffee table. I found the little bird cage at market. I sprayed it brown and added the bird in the pot inside. I've had this fleur de lis metal table for a long time. It's a little beat up so I decided it would work perfectly outside. The metal stand is full of life and color! I've been looking at it all winter empty! Well...I left a few pots of dead flowers on it. lol. Yay Spring! I found this sign a few years ago at Hobby Lobby.
I have mentioned before that I love turtles! Chase is ready to go turtle hunting again this spring.

The purple flower is a primrose mixed with red begonias.
I don't remember what this is but it is absolutly beautiful!! I bought it at Wal-Mart a week or so ago and I just hope I can keep it alive! I have never seen anything like it before.
I just love this color combo!
Creeping Jenny
This was a hanging basket of lobella but I took the handle off and set it on a metal stand.
Now let's go out to the firepit patio...
You might remember that Kevin built this patio a few years ago. He is still so proud of it...I think he and the neighbor are in a competition! I haven't seen the neighbors, but Kevin says ours is a little fancier! Ha! I think it's just the flowers and pillows...
Now I did have those pretty striped pillows in all of the chairs. However, Kevin had a good fire going and a huge gust of wind blew one in and it was immediatly engulfed in flames! Ahhh!!! Oh well, I was thinking it was too many stripes anyways...hehe. I am looking for a solid fabric to have some pillows made. I am also going to have the tan cushion on the bench recoverd too.
Alot of my pansies came back so I just mixed some merigolds and petunias in with them.
Petunias really add alot of color.
Yum! Some hamburgers cooking on the firepit. Poor little Sassy can't see...she needs her hair up.
Kevin brought in a load of poop for the garden...I told him he was planting everything this year!lol... His friend used it in his garden last year and said his veggies were really big and tasty! I know it's a good fertilizer but gross!

Thanks for checking out the patios! I will probably post them again as things grow and I add different things. I will also show you the front yard soon. Have a great week!!

My Boy

I hope you are all having a wonderful Saturday! I am actually in the middle of yardwork and planting flowers. After I finish this post I am off to weed eat! Yes, I do all of the weed eating at our house. I don't know how I got started...but I 'm stuck with it now! lol... I will show the finished patios on Monday.

I have been meaning to show you these pictures of Chase that were taken by my friend Lisa. You will recognize this first one from the one in my header. Lisa is Sherry's daughter who lives in Dallas. She is starting a photography business and takes the most beautiful pictures I have ever seen!! She is now taking clients in the Dallas area. For more information please visit her website at http://www.lisawaltersphotography.com/ She has some of her most recent work on there...you've got to check it out! She is awesome!!

I am so excited to have a good picture of Chase before he has facial hair! lol...Thank you Lisa!!

The next two are in my bookcase, so there is a little bit of a glare on them.
She is really good! Be sure and check out her website! Have a great day!!

Decorating With Animals...and...New Etsy Store Items

As I was doing my kitchen post the other day, I started looking around noticing all the animal decor I have. Wow! I didn't realize I had so many accessories with birds, cats, dogs and roosters...etc. I didn't even count the monkeys and elephants! I am drawn to this decor...especially birds! You will see when you scroll down. I do admit that I am an animal lover... maybe that's the reason I like it so much. Hmmm...I went around the house and snapped pictures of decor with animals...I even left some out! Oh my! lol...

I do love these little rabbit oil paintings. Aren't they sweet? I picked them up at market one year. Alot of my accessories were bought when I worked at the interior store. After we built the house I had saved money to make a trip to market to order several things...including furniture. That was a fun time!

I love this little clock too...it's so cute and different.

There are rabbits and birds in this picture in my laundry room. This little oil has lots of animals! There are the dogs on the mantle...they have been there forever! lol...It's almost time for a change... I love this little dog...my grandma bought him for my birthday one year.
Another cute little kitty oil.

I also bought these little oils when I worked at the interior store. Aren't they sweet?

These pictures belonged to my grandma. I inherited them when she passed away. I reframed the two bird pictures and hung them all together.I looked forever for just the right thing for this niche. I found the box and plates at market and had to have them. My sweet grandma gave me the money for these...she wanted me to have just the right thing!

Love this box...I spy some birds!
This bird lamp is from Hobby Lobby. Some of you might remember when I bought it and added the fringe and trim to the shade.

My mom gave me the bird pictures and I had them reframed.

This is one of my favorite bird accessories...I love the birds and the way the birdcage is mirrored. It reflects the rug.
I found this little wooden cat at T.J. Maxx a while back.

Bird bookends...Ok. you are probably thinking how much animal decor do I have?? lol...probably too much!
There are even birds on this lamp or lamps I have two matching ones in my bookcase. Bird box...

My favorite rooster plate...

Last but not least is Mr. Polk a dot roo! He keeps an eye on all of his animal friends around the house...lol.

I forgot the pretty yellow roos up in the cabinet! You can see them on my last post.

I have listed some new Etsy items in my store. How about a spring bird arrangement? If you are a bird lover like me then you will like this one!

I will have to say that the picture does not do this frame justice. That butterfly is so sparkly...and the ribbons are gorgeous and so silky! This frame would look good mixed in with spring or everyday decor...or even in a little girl's room.
This Fleur de lis tassel is full of beautiful ribbons and fringe! I am working on more similar to this one.
I have more items listed in my store...to visit click HERE. I hope all my animals didn't scare you away! lol...I know alot of you have roosters in the kitchen, but what about in other parts of the house? Just curious. It's just funny because I have never really thought about it...and all of a sudden I am seeing animals everywhere!

I have been working on the patios for the last few days. I just about have all of the flowers planted...I will show you soon! Lovin this warm weather!!! Have a great rest of the week!

The Heart Of The Home Party!

I am joining sweet Sheila for her Heart Of The Home party! The theme of the party is "My Favorite Cupboard". This little glass cupboard would have to be my favorite...one reason is because it houses my favorite little roos!

This is the only glass cabinet in my kitchen and it is also the only one that stays nice and neat! I really didn't want to show you inside anymore of my cupboards...you might get injured! lol...things like to fall out...however some spring cleaning is on the way, so they will hopefully be organized soon.

Those little roos like to keep and eye on everything from up there...lol. Please stop by Sheila's beautiful blog for more kitchen cupboards! Also, for my updated kitchen pics please click here!

The Kitchen Is Done...For Now..

The kitchen is done!! For now...if your like me your house is always a work in progress. However, as far as major stuff goes I am done in here. Later on in a year or two I will get new counter tops, but right now I am satisfied with everything. If you have been following my kitchen updates then you will know the first thing we did was get new stainless steel appliances. Next, I reglazed the cabinets to darken them and add more character...then I added the new hardware. Next, I tackled the island and painted and distressed it in green. What you haven't seen is the newly painted light fixtures, new curtain, and rugs. I am doing this backwards...this is the after pic.
This is the before with the black appliances, lighter cabinets, and old hardware.

Here is the after with the new rugs, curtain, stainless steel appliances, painted light fixtures, and painted island. It feels so much more cozy and warm! This is the before...best picture I could find.

I am really loving the island! At first it looked like it was just floating in the room, however when I added the rugs and curtain it helped to ground it. I have looked for a rug ever since we moved in this house! Seriously! I needed a 7 round...nothing else would do! I was in The Home Depot the other day and spotted this one. I couldn't believe when I saw it said 7 round!! Oh the excitement!! I also had decided I needed something with black and tan because I have so many colors going on in here. It is an indoor/outdoor rug made by Martha Stewart.

I painted the light fixtures brown and then went over them with metallic gold. Your not going to believe this, but I didn't even take them down!! I just laid down newspapers and spray painted them! I did use a brush to paint the top. I know I'm crazy! Hubby was afraid to take them down, so I had to do what I had to do! lol...
This is a no sew curtain. Everything is hot glued!! lol...I left the coral material underneath...it is gathered and hanging from clips. It had beaded fringe on it, but I took it off added the ball fringe. I wanted to add more green to tie in the island so I added the green fringe above the ball fringe. All done with hot glue! Then I found the black fabric and draped it over and tied it to the middle. I knotted the ends, added the tassel and hot glued the edges of the black fabric. This is one rigged curtain!! LOL!
Isn't that fringe pretty? The black fabric and all of the fringe came from Hobby Lobby. Love that store!
This is a no sew roller shade. I have had it on my door since we moved in and was going to change it because it was coming apart. However, I decided to just re glue it and add matching fringe. I was actually going to go with a bamboo shade, but didn't want the long string hanging down.

This is the view from the laundry room.

Thanks for checking out my kitchen!! I'm sure glad all of that painting and glazing is done! Whew! Do you see my little bird oil paintings? I need to do a post on birds soon. I am drawn to them and have them all over my house! lol...They make me think of spring! I hope it's warming up where you are. It's supposed to be 80 here tomorrow! Yay!! I am ready to work outside. I bought some beautiful yellow flower hanging baskets today. Oh, and you might remember I had pillows made for the patios in that pretty striped fabric...well they are beautiful and BRIGHT!! I don't know how well hubby likes them around his manly fire pit...lol. They look like little rainbows! hehehe! He will just have to get used to them! Have a wonderful weekend!!

I am joining Carrie at Dittle Dattle for Amaze Me Monday and Susan at Between Naps on the Porch for Met Monday.
