This Little Piggy's Going To Market!

Hey Guys! I'm off to Dallas Market... I'll be back on Tuesday. I hope to get some more ideas for my frames and maybe even come up with something else to make for my Etsy store. Market will hopefully get my brain thinking creatively again! I am also looking forward to the good restaurants in Dallas as you can see by my title! lol...I'm excited about meeting a fellow blogger at market too! I'll be sure and take lots of pictures!!! Have a great weekend!

Brighten Something Up With Rub n Buff!

Hey Guys! Have you ever heard of Rub n Buff? I'm sure you have...I just wanted to show you a little project I did tonight that only took a few minutes and made a big difference! I bought these jars at Hobby Lobby (where I buy almost everything) tonight for $6 and $8... 66% off! I just couldn't pass them up. They were pretty like they were, but when I put them in the bookcase they were too dark and blah.

They just didn't stand out, they bored me. So rather than taking them back....

I found my pitiful looking tube of Rub n Buff without a lid...it's bad...and got to work. Michael's and Hobby Lobby both carry it, this one is antique gold.

This is really easy... just put a little on a paper towel. Rub it into the towel so it's not globby, then just lightly rub it on an old accessory or something you want to brighten up, if you want you can wipe it off a little to make it blend in more. These jars were a great example because of the design. The rub n buff really made it stand out!

The finished products...the one in the front looks brighter, but it's just the lighting.

Much better...now they stand out! I also did this to my candleholders in my last post if you want to check them out.

Thanks for stopping by! Have a great rest of the week!!
P.S. The weather here is warmer now...thank goodness!

A Few New Things...And Trying To Stay Warm!

Hey Guys! I hope you are all having a wonderful weekend and you are all staying warm! The big story here is the cold temps...I mean it is down right FREEZING!! Tonight it's supposed to be about 4 degrees...we have record breaking temperatures. I don't even like getting out! The good news is that it is supposed to warm up into the 40s. At least that is bearable! Anyway, I've been moving some things around and ended up redoing (AGAIN) my rooster arrangement. I was a little tired of just the arrangement on the island so I added the tray I already had and found some candle holders at Hobby Lobby. I did get out to go shopping! lol...The candle holders were half off and ended up being around $14 for both! I put a little gold rub on them to make them stand out more. I found a different container I had stuck in the closet and redid Mr. Rooster. He just keeps getting smaller and smaller! I just can't bear to have him anywhere else, he is so happy on the island!

Yes he is! Look at him perched up there in all his glory. I have told you before that I bought him and his mate at an estate sale. But what I didn't tell you is that they belonged to a sweet cousin who died several years ago...so they are extra special to me. Here is another Hobby Lobby find...$5 for that container!

Remember I told you I was having trouble locating all of my everyday stuff? Well, I never found my woven place mats. Who knows where they are! I could have thrown them away for all I know...so I went to Wal-Mart and bought these green ones for $2.95 each. I think that's about the shade of green I will paint the kitchen island.
I had this arrangement that I normally use for spring. I ended up adding some darker red flowers to it. It's still a little springy...oh well. I need a lift in this cold weather!
I looked and looked for some dinnerware to go in this cabinet. I didn't want anything too fancy. I finally found these before Christmas...they really stand out in the cabinet.

I just love all the color! Especially the red, I think everything I'm showing you is red! It's my favorite color as most of you know!

I messed around with this table forever! I finally decided to just do photos, then I decided to make myself a "B" frame to go in the middle. I will sell it though if you are interested...I can always make another one.

I inherited this pretty urn and stand from my nanny a few years ago. I have had a million plants in it including live ones. Of course they all bit the dust! I found this grassy stuff and sticks at Hobby Lobby and gave it a try. I like it, but it kind of looks like a small head growing some massive hair! lol...I think this cold weather is making me see things...

Thanks for your visit! I hope you all have a wonderful week...try and stay warm!!

Getting Things Back In Order...And A Project!

Hey Guys! I hope you are all having a wonderful start to the new year! So far everything is going good on my end. We had a busy New Year's weekend with all of my relatives from Kentucky. We shopped, ate, and opened more presents! We always have a good time when they come into town. So yesterday I had to start taking down all of the Christmas decor. That was a job, as most of you know! It's all down, but still in the garage, I can barely get my car in. Tomorrow it will all go back up in the attic. It's kind of sad, but I'm ready to get everything back in order and cleaned. I started looking for all my everyday stuff and still can't find some of it. I stuff things everywhere...lol! I am going to put most of the stuff back where it was (if I find it) but am making a few minor changes here and there. It' always fun to redecorate a little...I did buy a few things at Hobby Lobby that I'll show you soon. Things are looking a little bit better, but in this picture it looks like we're just moving in!

After I get things back in order I have several little projects I want to start and one of them is painting my kitchen island. What do you think about green? A little lighter than the drawer I have pictured, I think. I am also planning on putting a little more stain on my cabinets to darken them a little. I will add some stain to the island after it's painted to give it a bit of an aged look too. I might even sand the edges so some of the cream shows through...who knows how it will turn out! lol...Any suggestions? I'm just getting tired of everything the same color. When we built the house I couldn't really do what I wanted because of budget, so I went neutral. I figured I could add the color with my accessories, and over all I'm glad I did, but I am now trying to make some minor changes without spending alot of money.
Here is a picture I found on the Internet...it gave me an idea of what it will look like. I might have a few more kitchen projects if the island goes well. Sorry this pic is so small...

Well, that's all I have for now...just trying to get things back in order and get back to normal life. I do have Dallas market to look forward too...I will be going at the end of next week. I am hoping to come back with some new embellishments and ideas for my frames. Have a great rest of the week!!

A White Christmas!!

Hey Guys! I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas!! Ours ended up being great! As you can see it snowed almost 4 inches on Christmas eve! That was really rare for us...I was 2 the last time we had a white Christmas. Every year I always dream of one, but the chances are almost zero. But it finally happened!! My family almost didn't make it over, but the roads started clearing around noon. We were so glad! Ahhhh...the snow was so pretty!

The patio is bare without all the flowers, but the snow made it pretty again for a few days.
Chase had so much fun playing in the snow. Here is the snowman he built...sort of...lol. He loves legos and built this in about 5 minutes!

When my family arrived we opened presents! Chase got the most...

That's my mom and brother. She loves furry vests!

My mom and dad bought Chase the bike and had it on the front porch. It was his last present and he was so surprised!

We will celebrate Christmas again next weekend with my family from Kentucky. Do you have any big plans for next weekend? I still can't believe it will be 2010! OMGoodness!! Have a great week!!

Merry Christmas To All...

Merry Christmas! I hope you are all having a wonderful Christmas eve. You are probably not on the computer like I am! I decided to do a quick post while Kevin was wrapping my presents(typical man waiting until the last minute...lol) We went to the Christmas eve service at our church tonight and then we went to eat at IHOP. Yum! We recently decided to have Christmas lunch over here tomorrow so I thought I better set my table! Although...we are in the middle of a winter storm! We can't believe it!! It is snowing like crazy. I hope everyone can make it over tomorrow, but we are expecting more than 4 inches! The last snow we had on Christmas was in 1975. We had an ice storm about 8 years ago, but no snow. Looks like we will have a white Christmas after all!!

Here is my table all ready for guests...I hope.

I bought the placemats at J.C. Pennies today at 60% off. I had everything elso from last year.

See all the snow! It's still coming down pretty hard!
I hope you all have a wonderful and most of all... BLESSED CHRISTmas!!
