Share Your Creations Party #2

Welcome to the second Share Your Creations Party!

Share Your Creations

The first party had some wonderful entries, here are just a few...

Crocheted cuties by Sheila at Notesongs Adorable!!

Beautiful fall decor by Debbie at Debbiedoos

Adorable pumpkin hat by Denise at Den's Daily Life...it's for sale!

Beautiful painted chest by Kim at My Domestic Bliss
Love the color!
Refurbished chairs by Claire at Bless My Nest
What a transformation!

Now on to the party...

Today I wanted to share a few pics of my fall mantle. It is not complete yet...remember I am going to attempt to do an oil painting for the middle of the mantle. What have I gotten myself into?! lol...My easel is set up and ready to go! I'm hoping to get started today.

What I had envisioned for the mantle was not anything like how it is turning out! Doesn't it usually turn out that way? I was thinking about something more simple...However, I am pleased with it so far. I used several different pumpkins, greenery, berries, and books to give height. I arranged the pumpkins on the mantle and started laying the greenery, berries, mini pine cone sticks, etc. all around the pumpkins. Nothing is glued in it is all just wedged in! No taking this down to dust! lol...
I know I talk about Hobby Lobby (my second home) all the time, but they really have some beautiful pumpkins and they are all 40% off this week! Yay!
My grandma gave me this pumpkin and it looks so good with the green vases and books.

I bought three different sizes of the pumpkin in the middle of the mantle. They are really pretty too.
This pumpkin really jumped out at me. It is so elegant and different!

Now I have got to decide what to put in these vases...

Well, that's all I'm going to show you for now! Hopefully I will get everything else done in the next few days and then I will reveal the rest!

Now it's time to share your creations...You can share an item you have made, a room you have decorated, furniture you have painted, jewelry, a seasonal vignette, recipes, photography...the list goes on and on! Also, if you have an Etsy shop you are welcome to add your link. I would appreciate a link back to my blog so others can find the party.

I hope you will join the party!

Smoked Chicken Cordon Bleu

I mentioned in my last post that Kevin made smoked chicken cordon bleu yesterday. I was asked about the recipe so I thought I would give you the link where he got it. It's on YouTube...he looks up all kinds of recipes on YouTube, he likes to watch how it's made. If you have a smoker, you will want to try this...it is delish! However, I'm sure you can cook it in the oven too, it just won't have the smoke flavor.

Turn the music down...it's bad.

My second"Share Your Creations" party is on Thursday...I hope you will join! I'm anxious to see what you are creating!

I hope you all had a wonderful Labor Day!

Now, on to the next project...

Laboring On Labor Day!

I hope you are all having a wonderful Labor Day weekend! We have been having fun with family from Kentucky. We shopped most of the day yesterday...there are lots of good sales right now!

I mentioned a while back that I was redoing Chase's room. Well, I have finally started on it! We bought the mattress, bedding, sheets, and desk yesterday. I think I might finally have a plan in mind, maybe...lol. Chase really likes it so far...he is glad to have a bigger bed. We are doing the rock and roll music theme. Anyway, this is the desk I purchased at Home Depot. Look at all of the pieces...about a million of them! Poor hubby will have to work on it all day tomorrow...on Labor Day! Chase and I might help a little...lol.

It will hopefully look somewhat like this when it's complete! It's going to fit perfectly on one of his walls. We really liked it because it has alot of storage and it was on sale!!

As you can see I'm just getting started on the room...here is the plan:

I am planning on doing some kind of collage with records behind the picture to act as a headboard...we will see how that turns out! I am going to bring out some of the colors in the picture in the pillows. I found the black and orange pillow on clearance at Wal-mart. I am looking for fabric to make a window treatment out of and whatever I use on the window I will probably use in a pillow on the bed too. I found the black guitar at Hobby Lobby...it might stay there and it might not! We are going to keep the dark red ladder shelf and add some music accents to it. I will also look for a small contemporary table and lamp to go on the left side of his bed. That is the plan for now! There are other walls that I am going to address later on. Oh, and I kept the green walls as you can see. I think everything will tie together when the room is done...I hope. I am really liking the green and black together.

Look what I just found!! I ordered a yard of it off of Ebay to make a pillow out of. It has all the colors.

Here is Chase at Rock Band Camp this summer. He is really into music right now, so I think we are going in the right direction with his room.

And...I wanted to show you a rooster arrangement I listed in my store tonight. It is a one of a kind...love the roo!

Have a wonderful Labor Day! I hope you are going to take it easy...it looks like I will be helping to put together a million piece desk! lol...

Share Your Creations Party #1

Welcome to the first Share Your Creations Party! I'm excited about this one and I hope you will join in the fun!

Share Your Creations

This morning I did a post showing some of my fall finds from Hobby Lobby. I mentioned that I am ready to decorate and I am going to attempt to do an oil painting of fall trees over the mantle. I do have a little bit of a background in art, but have not painted or drawn anything in a LONG TIME! I loved art when I was in Jr. High and High school. I also took art for a year in college. About 8 years ago, before we moved into this house, Kevin and I took an oil painting class together. I had planned on doing all of my own artwork for the house! That didn't happen and I ended up buying it! Ha! However, I think I might be ready to give it a try again. After taking the oil painting class, I did end up painting these apples for my kitchen. I set up a display of real apples and this is what I came up with...

When I was in class I painted this landscape. I think it still could use some work...then maybe I will frame it.

I painted the parrot in high school...it's done in water color. I actually painted this off of a photo of my pet lilac crowned amazon parrot, Peppy. He was such a funny bird!

LOL! I found this picture of me in high school...sorry it's blury. I took picture of a picture. I think I was about 16 or 17 in this photo. This was a competion and the theme was World Peace. I was in several competions and I think I won an honorable mention in this one.

Well, those are some of my creations! I think I'm in the mood to paint again!

I am looking forward to seeing what you create!

You can link any creations that you would like to share. It can be items, a room you have decorated, a piece of furniture you have painted, jewelry, photography, recipes...the list goes on and on. If you are sharing an item you have created for your Etsy Store you are welcome to add your link!

I would appreciate a link back to my blog so others can find the party! Other than that, there are no more rules! Have fun with it!

Fall Finds...And Share Your Creations Party Tomorrow!

I have been shopping for fall items over the last few weeks. Hobby Lobby has the cutest items and best prices...when they are on sale. I do not buy ANYTHING unless it's on sale! They had alot of fall 40 and 50% off last week. This week their add does not include alot of fall. Although... wood, polyresin, pottery, glass and ceramics are on sale and that does include fall! You have to watch for that. Sometimes there are no signs above the seasonal items. I hope you all have a Hobby Lobby where you are...I don't know what I would do without it!

Here are some items I bought at Hobby Lobby last week. I am going to decorate the iron shelf on the patio this year, so I thought the cute scarecrow, birdhouse, and Harvest sign would be cute out there with some real pumpkins. Not sure where the candle holders and ceramic pumpkins will go yet, either in the kitchen or living room...I'll just have to play with them. I am also going to do my mantle...I am actually going to attempt an oil painting of fall trees. I did say attempt, I haven't painted in a long time...if it turns out bad, I'll have to think of something else. I will also be making myself a pumpkin arrangement and some other things to set around. Fall is definitely on my brain!

Just a reminder that my first "Share Your Creations" party is tomorrow. I will have the linky tool up tonight. I hope you will join in! You can link any creations you would like to share. It can be an item, a room you have created, a piece of furniture you have painted, jewelry...etc. It's wide open! If you are sharing an item you have listed on Etsy you are welcome to add your link!
