How To Make A Tree Topper! (Bow Tutorial)

Hey guys! It's time for the tree topper post! I'm joining in on Met Monday so be sure and visit Susan at Between Naps on the Porch for a list of participants. You have got to see her post! It's beautiful!
I have had a lot of you ask me do do this post, so I'll do my best to explain it. Fist I will TRY to teach you how to make a bow. My pictures are probably not the best...Chase took most of them...lol. I am using 3 different ribbons and I will admit that using one is easier, so you might want to practice with one first. Here we go...

First, gather the ribbons in your hand and scrunch them all together.

Next...make a loop going up with the ribbons, then you will want to scrunch them together like in the picture above keeping all the ribbons lined up if you're using more than one.
Then you will go underneath and make another loop.

Scrunch.

Ok...I seem to have left out a small step here. You will need to twist all three ribbons when making this third loop. In this case, keeping the green ribbon on top. Twist to the right, make the loop going up and scrunch.

Now you will need to twist the ribbons to the right again, it was hard to get a picture of the twisting part.

Then you will make another loop going underneath and twisting again to the right keeping all the ribbons lined up.

Then you will make another loop going up, scrunching and twisting the ribbons to the right.See how the green ribbon is always on top, that's why you have to twist them to keep the right side on the top. If you are using one ribbon and both sides are the same you do not need to twist it.

When you have made as many loops as you want just tie it off with a chenille stem or a piece of wire.

Next...fluff out your beautiful bow! I added more streamers to this bow by tying them on with the chenille stem.

Tie your bow on to the tree with the chenille stem. I pushed down some of the greenery at the top of the tree so the bow would sit better.

Now for the fun stuff! I like a lot of glitter so I use glittered stars and berries. Once I get the bow all fluffed out and how I want it, I start poking stuff in the branches of the tree all around the bow. Sometimes you just have to play with it, they don't always go in where you want them to!

I found this gold money looking stuff the other day. I really like it because it's sparkly! I just poked it in around the bottom of the bow.

I bought these red glittered stars several years ago. I poked them in all around the bow as well.

I used these red glittered berries for a little more height. A few more of these and it's done!

there you have it! You can't hardly see the bow now! lol...It will look better once the tree is decorated. This can be done with just about anything you want to use. I have seen some of the neatest stuff this year, so have fun with it!

I'll show you the rest of the tree soon. Looks like I need to weave a few lights in the top of the tree! Thanks for checking out this post, I might have left something out so feel free to ask questions! Have a great week!!

Happy Thanksgiving! A little Christmas Decor to look at after the Turkey Dinner!

Hey Guys! I finally had a break to do a post...whew! I have been really busy decorating houses and getting ready for the show I had this past weekend, it went GREAT by the way! I sold a lot of stuff! I am working on replenishing for the next show.
I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving! I have it easy, we are going to my aunt and uncle's house and all I have to bring is the rolls...yipee! She is a wonderful cook! I thought I would post a few trees Sherry and I decorated this week so you would have something to look at after the big turkey dinner and maybe get some ideas for your own tree. I bet a lot of you are putting your tree up this weekend. This lady had all of the beautiful decorations and wanted us to put everything together. I love the whimsy of this tree! It has a little bit of everything...those big presents really set it off, they are actually containers.

In my next post... (which should be Saturday or Sunday when hubby gets my tree down) I will show you how to do a tree topper with all the fun stuff coming out of the top like this one. Several of you have asked me about that.
This little tree turned out cute! It is in the guest bathroom and is done in shoes and purses. It's painted to look like a shoe store...it's so unique!
Here are some frames I had at the show. I sold several and I also sold a lot of the initial frames. I have several custom ones to make.
I showed you this wreath in an earlier post. I will be making more of these for my next show.
I also made some tassels and found the perfect little stand to hang them on.
Look for my tree topper post soon! I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving!!

The Reveal!!

Hey Guys! It's time for the reveal! This big beautiful home belongs to a good friend of mine. We started decorating her house several years ago after she moved in. I say "we" because my former boss and friend Sherry helps me. This house is a 2 day job and it definitely takes the two of us to get it done. Some of you might remember it from last year too...it got a lot of attention! This year we decided to redo the garland on the staircase. Some of the lights were out and stuff was starting to fall off. So we found some beautiful ribbon, poinsettias, glittered leaves, and hanging beaded berries. It took me about 6 hours to put everything together. Those stairs go on and on!
Here is a closeup of the ribbon and beads...they are beautiful!
This is the mantle in the formal living room. I added some beautiful rhinestone garland and a little bit of the ribbon in the staircase to tie everything together.

This tree is big...but not as big as the last tree I decorated! Sherry worked on this tree while I finished the garland.
I did the top of the tree and added the new ribbon. I'm the one that gets up on the ladder! lol...
Isn't this home something??!! I think I can fit my whole house in this room! lol...

This is in the dining room... I made the large arrangement on the table.

I decorated the chandy with red glass like berries and ornaments.

This garland is in the family room.
I love those hanging beaded berries!
This tree is so fun with lots of cute ornaments!
This garland was so heavy and hard to put up but we finally succeeded! I should have taken more pics of the outside, there is more!

I hope you enjoyed everything and maybe came away with some ideas for yourself! I am worn out!! I have a craft show coming up on Sat. so I will be busy working on it. I still have another house to decorate on Friday too. I will post more pics soon!! Thanks for stopping by!

The Christmas Decorating Has Begun...Come And See!!

Hey guys! I've been busy! I know it's not even Thanksgiving yet, but I have to start early in order to get all my houses done. This is a client's home I worked on yesterday and today. She is the one that loves the mesh ribbon. And Yes...this tree took a while to decorate... almost 4 hours! I helped this sweet lady last year after she just moved into this beautiful home. Some of you might remember me posting some pics. This year we decided to add more ornaments and ribbon to the tree and stairs to make them even more fabulous! This tree is a 12 footer! I love the way it turned out. The whimsical lime green and red are really popular this year. Click to enlarge.

Wow! It's gigantic! She just found the cute tree skirt and it looks perfect!
She bought alot of the ornaments at Sam's and pier 1 Imports. See the circle garland? She bought it at the Cracker Barrell, it's really fun and contemporary!

I think she is going to have a family portrait done for the niche, that will be beautiful!
More ribbon and ornaments made the garland apear thicker and really add the "umph" it needed. The piece in the middle of the cabinet is a wooden sculpture.

The ribbon and oranments are all from Sam's. They have some wonderful things!

I dressed the chandelier up with garland, oraments and ribbon.

The jars with ornaments were perfect in the middle of her island.

This home was really fun, but I am glad to be done with that tree...lol! I have much more to show you! I will be doing several more homes in the next few weeks so be sure and stay tuned...

Visit the Bradford Exchange to find some beautiful and unique Christmas items for your home including ornaments, snow globes, music boxes and more. They also carry Disney and Thomas Kinkade.

Thanks for your visit!
