My Entryway With A Colorful Spring Mesh Wreath

Happy Friday!

I hope you have a fun day planned today. I will be working in the yard yet again. I am putting down the mulch today...not the most fun job in the world. However, I love how clean it looks and it makes the flowers show up better too. Before I get started I thought I would show you my entryway with my mesh wreath, flowers, new flag and rug.

I actually made the wreath last year but freshened it up the other day. I added new ribbon, butterflies, and silk flowers. It really stands out on the front door. I have also planted flowers in the beds to coordinate with the wreath. It is very colorful around my house this spring!

 The flowers are called Million Bells. They were actually in hanging baskets, but I took them out and set them in pots. They are my favorite flowers!

 I purchased the cute flag at The Home Depot.

 I purchased the colorful rug at Pier 1 Imports. I just couldn't pass it up...I knew it would be perfect with the flowers, wreath, and flag.

That's my colorful entryway!

I'm off to put down the mulch. At least it's not too hot and there is a nice breeze. Maybe it won't take all day...

Share Your Creations Party #35

I couldn't believe this pretty wreath was made out of painted plastic bottles...Wow! Visit Paula at Virginia Sweet Pea for the tutorial.

Misti at Living On Cypress Hill made some pretty pillows and curtains for her breakfast nook. Love the colors!

For my creation I thought I would show you this "B" I painted yesterday. It was solid gold to begin with but it needed some color. Since I am adding in blue I thought it would be the perfect color to paint it. I also added a little green and then rubbed antique gold rub n buff around the edges. Then I took sand paper and roughed it up a little to make it look aged.  It was quick and easy and gave me the pop of blue I needed in the bookcase.

I am planning on showing you the bookcases complete next week. I swear I am not going to move one more thing!

Some Living Room Changes

As you know I have been adding in some new accessories and changing things around in the living room for the last several months. I am bringing in some of the pretty blue color along with the colors I already have. I have been wanting a change but don't want to spend alot of money. The best way to achieve a new look is to add new accessories, rugs and pillows. I really do like the way it is turning out...you are definitely happy when you walk into this room!

There are alot of changes in this room, but most of the furniture stayed the same. Except for the table on the end...

I found this table at Target and painted it blue. Then I added a little bit of gold and green paint and roughed it up a little. I really like the way it turned out.

On the coffee table I added a blue bowl full of pears along with books and a tray. The wooden terrarium piece on the end is one of my favorite accessories.

I added blue fringe to the lamp.

Here is a closeup of the mantle. I showed you a few months ago, but have made a few changes since then. I'm still going with the bird theme for the spring and summer months.  

Here is one of the biggest changes in the room...a new rug. You might remember the one I had in here before was really busy and heavy. I loved it, but wanted a change and it was way to much with everything else in this room. I purchased this rug at Pier 1 Imports.

I will show you more in the next few days. I am going to pick up a new rug for the entryway today. I hope it looks good! I have also reworked the bookcases and will show you soon. I am also making a few changes in the kitchen too...and I just finished planting flowers on the covered patio. I have really been working to get everything in order lately. I'm ready to sit back and enjoy. Although, is anything ever really done?

Proud Momma

I just wanted to share with you how proud we are of Chase. He has accomplished alot lately and I wanted to show you a few pictures. He just finished Cotillion and learned lots of good life skills and even learned how to dance. He tried to teach me a few steps but it was pretty much worthless! Ha Ha! I have absolutely no rhythm or coordination!



 He even won the fox trot competition!

His biggest accomplishment was winning 2nd place at the State National History Day Competition today. He and his two friends designed a group website on the Berlin Wall. They won the school competition and went on to Regionals to win first place. Then...they went on today to win second place at the State competiton. What an accomplishment! Now they will move on to Nationals...

I'm a proud Momma!

On with the features... Suzy at Worthing Court shared her newly redecorated foyer. It turned out so pretty! You might remember I showed you a pic of this mirror in my "Sneak Peek" post. Suzy mentioned on her blog that she purchased the mirror at Home Depot for $34.99 so I ran out to get one the next day. What a deal!

 For my creation I thought I would show you a little lamp shade redo. I bought this lamp for my kitchen at Hobby Lobby after my other one fried from a short. Glad it didn't catch the house on fire! Anyway, the shade is really cute with the flower, but it just wasn't what I had in mind for the kitchen. However, I loved the burlap fabric on the shade.

So I took the flower off and added a rhinestone flower. I like a little sparkle in the kitchen!  I also added the ball fringe and trim around the bottom and top.  

I also have this ball fringe on my curtain and shade in the kitchen. I love it!

Kitchen Island Vignette

Happy Monday! I'm in a good mood because the weather is going to be perfect today...sunny and 75! In fact we are supposed to have good weather all week. Yay! This weather is putting me in a cleaning/organizing/decorating/planting frenzy! I'm ready to get everything done and in order. I showed you some snippets of what I'm doing in the living room and will show you more soon...thanks for your nice comments. It has really come together over the last few days. There are still a few items I am looking for to complete everything. I left the living room looking so empty after Christmas that now I am on a mission to get everything put back together...like NOW! =0 When I get on something I don't quit until it's done and it makes me a little crazy! I'm on the downhill slope though.

Here is a vignette I put together on my kitchen island yesterday. You might remember I had greenery, flowers and bunnies in the two tiered stand for Easter. I ended up adding birds and more vines and it really did look cute...there is a pic below. However, since I already have a silk birdhouse arrangement on my kitchen table I thought I would do something a little more simple on the island, so I added some fresh apples. I also added some candle holders on some old cookbooks my mom gave me along with a fresh ivy and little bird. That ivy will probably be dead in a week! We will see...  

I love the colors in these apples. They are very tasty too!

I hope I can keep the ivy alive...any tips?

Here it is before I added the apples. You might remember I found this idea on Pinterest. I really do like it, but just felt like it was too much with all of the other stuff I've got going on in the kitchen. This would also make a cute centerpiece for a table...it was just a little big for mine. 

I'm going to get back to work! I've already dusted everything this morning...now for some planting.

Sneak Peak

As you all know I have been doing a little redecorating in the living room and kitchen. Well, it's finally coming together. I have been adding in some of the pretty blue color and love it! It looks really good with the colors I already have. Yesterday I went out on a little shopping trip keeping the budget in mind of course. I actually found quite a bit of new items I am very pleased with. I am only taking back one thing! That is really amazing. I am the worst at taking things back!

The pictures below will give you an idea of what I'm doing in here. I'll share more pics and talk about my decorating adventures soon...

I'm leaving for the day again for another shopping trip. I'm going to look for a few more things for the living room and also look for some flowers for the covered patio. I'm ready to get it done too! I'm in a decorating mood! =)
