Hey Guys! How is everyone this week? I know alot of you are probably still buried in snow after that giant snowstorm that hit last week. We got some snow here in Arkansas again yesterday. The kids were out of school, but went back today...Chase wasn't happy about that. He was hoping for more snow, or at least ice on the roads! lol...Well, I thought I would join Tabletop Tuesday today hosted by Barb at Grits and Glamour, but today it's hosted by KD at Southern Whimsy. Be sure and visit both of these ladies. They both have wonderful ideas!
After Christmas I wasn't satisfied with anything I put on my coffee table. Nothing looked right...I have always wanted a pretty chess set for some reason. I don't even know how to play chess so my title is a little misleading...I just think they are interesting and handsome! lol...I went on Amazon.com and found this one on sale for $39.99 and for the price it's great! Chase is learning how to play chess and loves it! See those pretty little red books...I bought them for $1 each at a used book store. They didn't have the whole set, but I just needed three anyway. Goodlooking books are expensive so I was thrilled to find these for that price.
Isn't it nice? I love the little pieces...they are metal.
I also wanted to show you a table in our living room that is very special to me. My mother in law gave it to me when we moved into this house. She passed away two and a half years ago. She knew how much I liked it, so she gave it to me with the promise I would always keep it...and I will. I believe it is a duncan phyfe. I found this cute little black tray for $2 at an antique mall. I love antique malls! You never know what you will find. See my rabbit clock? I will be showing you lots of rabbits soon!
This isn't a table, but I wanted to show you some small changes I made to the mantle. I painted my clock black and gold...it was shiny brown.I have been looking for a new clock or something interesting to go in the middle of the mantle, but have yet to find it. There is a plug in that needs to be covered. I also added some books and set one of the dogs on top of one. It's good for now, but who knows...I might change it again! lol... Thanks for your visit! I have been busy with tassel orders...but I am listing some new ones today, so be sure and check them out!

I love your table and it is extra special because it is a family piece. It's great the Chase is learning to play chess. It's such a thinking game with so much strategy that it's got to be great for young minds.
I have too many chess sets and all but one are put away. My son was into chess, and he and my hubby still play on occasion. I love your bunny clock, Kristen! Can't wait to see more bunnies {I collect them, so I always enjoy seeing others'}.
Kristen the chess set is really beautiful on your coffee table!
Great display. I just love to shop on Amazon as well. They have the best deals. I just received my new red PD cookware from them yesterday. I should do a post on it soon.
The table from your MIL is very pretty and so special as well. How nice that you have it to treasure always. Your mantle display looks gorgeous.
I just adore every bit of your stunning home. It's really amazing!
Have a great week. ~Melissa :)

I adore the way you have your MIL's table dressed and the special place it holds in your heart is wonderful. It is so important to surround ourselves with pieces that remind us of those we love! Your new little tray is so pretty and the bunny clock is beautiful...you know I love my bunnies too;)!

Kristen, I love the chess set. Very pretty. When we were in Dallas we passed several Saltgrass resturants and I thought of you. We almost ate there for a good steak one night but we ended up in Fort Worth and ate at the Stockyards at Cattleman's. So good.
Loved the table and all! Just beautiful Kristen! How's the snow? LOL LOL It isn't too warm here in AUstin but at least no snow!

The Chess set really is just gorgeous. I love it. The books are wonderful too and yes, I look for books all the time, but they are so hard to find and then sometimes sooooooo expensive. Yours are just perfect with the chess set. Your round end table is lovely and you have it displayed beautifully too. So pretty. You always do a wonderful job with your mantel. This looks lovely and I really like the dogs. I have looked forever for some and just can't find any anywhere, so I always drool over yours. Thanks for sharing. Hugs, Marty
Everything looks beautiful, Kristen!! I love the addition of the chess set ... you found a perfect spot for it. Jax (3) loves to move all the pieces around the one we have on the ottoman in our sitting room ... wonder if he'll ever want to truly learn (lol) ... good luck to Chase !! I love how you accessorized your mother-in-law's gorgeous table ... she'd be very proud of you !! As always, I LOVE your mantle !! Hugs, Becca (stop by when you can and tell me what you think of my jungle mudroom - I know how much you love monkeys!)

Hi Kristen! Everything looks so beautiful! The one from your mother in law - I have one like it! I just love mine. You really know how to set up a pretty vignette. What a pretty chess set and it does look good on your beautiful coffee table! Love the inlaid wood. I have a round coffee table in the living room and it has inlaid wood too! Oh, if I could just create like you! :) Your mantle is gorgeous. Now did you know I collect those little Staffordshire dogs! Yes, I do! We're alike so much. I think I'll adopt you for my daughter! :)
Be a sweetie,
shelia ;)
Hey Kristen! I agree, the chess set is a perfect addition to the coffee table. And your mantle is just beautiful - but that drum table from your MIL - wow! I love antiques and the fact that is has special meaning to you is even better. Btw, we are getting another FOOT of snow tonite! Ugh!
xoxo,
Kim
Beautiful table! I can only imagine how special it must be. All of your decor is wonderful...wish you could come to my house. :-)

Your table from is not only pretty but very precious, full of memories of someone you loved, thank you for sharing, kathysue
I had to laugh when I read this post. I was just going through this dilemma this week myself. My coffee table is really lacking at the moment. Don't know what to do with it. And I just got rid of a "handsome" chess set. Isn't that always the way.
Your table looks wonderful. Really LOVE the old books. I am a book collector.
Hugs,
Cindy
Kristen, I love your chess set, the books stole my heart. You sure found a bargain when you got those... hugs ~lynne~
Nice chess set, looks great on your table. Love the round table and vignette on it! You have some neat accessories!
Katherine
I think accessories are all about creating a mood and your chess set definitely does that PLUS it has created a new interest! Your table is beautiful and a classic!
I love the look you have here. Really elegant.
I love that Chess Set. My Hubby plays all the time. I like the idea of putting it on the coffee table.
Your living room looks so pretty!
I love the chess set on the table. It is really classic looking. My favorite thing that you showed was the vases on the mantle with the branches. I love that.
I think chess sets are classy.
Hope you are having a good week.....
Kristen,
I get a dose of inspiration each time I visit! You are very talented, and I enjoy viewing your beautiful home, floral arrangements and projects. Your rooms are thought out, and well appointed in a friendly, yet sophisticate way! I’ve been searching for that exact same Duncan Phyfe table, but have not found one that satisfies me yet. I can tell your mil’s table is the finest quality with excellent detailing. Your new chess set looks perfect on your coffee table (I might just be borrowing this great look for myself!) You certainly scored finding those fabulous books. I expect you did a little happy dance when you spotted them.
Thank you for sharing.
Cathy
Your home is just so lovely, and those tassels are magnificent!
I like to see a chess set out, too. I did have one out on a game table, but all that has moved to different spots in the house. Thank you for following my blog. If I'm not following yours yet I will. I don't know why my picture doesn't show up in that place, but it will be one of those no face ones. I love your home and that duncan phyfe table is beautiful. I love those.
We have a chess set too, and neither of us plays, but they are so good-looking and just add some interest to a table. (I may just think it looks intellectual to have one!). Your is so good looking. Love your table your mil gave you. What a special treasure to have. Your mantle looks so pretty. I would never think to paint a clock! laurie
