A Little Redecorating...

I have really been getting the itch to redecorate the whole house lately! However, when I say redecorate I mean just making changes with accessories, a few rugs and maybe a table or two. I am not planning on any major renovations or even new sofas or curtains. I am keeping the big stuff, just rearranging and adding in a few new things here and there to make things look different. I've mentioned before that I am really loving the aqua colors I'm seeing everywhere. The blues were everywhere at market. I love how they are mixing them with the orangy red and yellow...and yes I am keeping the yellow walls. I just can't bring myself to paint them. They still make me happy! With that said...I picked up some pretty decorating books at market and they are giving me alot of good ideas. I love the Southern Living Style book on the top...you can see by the cover why it caught my eye. There's that aqua and orangy red together.

I went shopping a little last night to get ideas. Pier 1 has some beautiful things and I will probably end up buying a few things there. I also looked at T.J. Maxx, Kohl's, Kirkland's and Target. All of those places had some cute stuff. This pillow from Target did make it into the basket and I am loving it! In fact, I'm going back for more later on today. Do you see that pretty blue color I'm talking about? This pillow has all of the colors and looks great with the sofa and curtains.
This was my next purchase at Kohl's. I looked at it and walked away...then it hit me! What would something like that look like on the coffee table? I brought it home and I am loving it! I get so excited when things work and I don't have to take them back! =) As you can see I added one of my new bird containers and some greenery inside.

That is the start of my new changes to the living room. I have removed the black rug and am looking for another one. I do have one in mind though...we will see. It will take several months to put everything together I'm sure. I will be sure and post what changes I make.

On to the foyer...you might remember I recently moved this piece into the entryway. I finally hung the mirror and am now ready to accessorize! I don't know if I will leave the lanterns there or not...just playing with them.

As you can see the dining room table has not been touched since Christmas! =0 I am looking for just the right items to go on it. Flowers, Jars, runner?? Still thinking about it...I'm sure something will come to me. If you have any suggestions please feel free to let me know...1000 heads are better than one! lol...Oh, and the kitchen it empty too. Trying to figure things out in there...

That's all I've got for now! Check out my Etsy store for a few more new creations. More to come...

  5. I think it's good to start out with a clean slate every once in awhile, Kristen! This way your head is clear of what it looked like before and you can go to it with some new ideas and inspiration. I'm sure you'll come up with something wonderful for the dining room and kitchen.

  7. LOVE that pillow! I've been adding turquoise for awhile now. It's always been one of my favorites in jewelry and now I have the color scattered around my home.

I have no suggestions for you for the dining table...mine is empty too. Just cannot figure out what I want. I'll be checking back to see what you decided. :-)

  8. Kristen, I'm loving the blues, as well. I just added some to the master bedroom and bath. It looks so pretty with the rusty oranges that I had. Great minds! You are well on your way!

  9. Looks like you are on your way. I have been finding myself doing some tweaking as well. I think it's referred to as "nesting". It's nice to freshen things up and have a little variety. xoxo Jeanette

  11. That's an awesome pillow, Kristen. So many wonderful colors and it makes me think of Spring! I'm going through this exact same process at my house - trying to update without replacing/buying large furniture items. Can't wait to see your progress!

  14. So far so good, Kristen! I like browsing the stores you mentioned, too. I usually do more than browse, though. I picked up a cute wall wire wall decoration at Pier 1 a few days ago. I will be interested to see what changes you make to your already pretty home.------- Shannon
