Summer Wildflowers

Hey guys! I hope you are having a wonderful afternoon! Summertime has definitely arrived here in Arkansas...whew! I wish I had a pool to jump in right about now! Instead of a pool we have a fire pit! I don't think that's going to work...lol.

I wanted to show you some wildflowers I picked on Saturday. There is a field close by that I drive by all the time. It's full of mostly ugly weeds, but there are some of these golden coreopsis flowers mixed in. I am a wildflower lover! I used to have a book on Arkansas wildflowers and studied it often. Every time we would go camping or hiking I would try to sound smart and name all of the flowers! lol...I lost that book but still remember alot of the flowers though, when you are interested in something it sticks with you.

These flowers look so pretty and bright on my island.

I would love to see a field full of all colors of wildflowers like this someday. I wish all fields looked like this! Beautiful!

I think that's why I like this painting above my mantle so much...a beautiful field of wildflowers. It just makes me happy!

Do you have fields of wildflowers where you live? If so, I am coming to visit!

Have a great day!

  2. Oh I so agree, no fields here of wildflowers, but there is a field not too far from here that is a rose farm and as far as you can see there are roses. I drool over them every time I drive by. Love your flowers and your vignette. I hope you will link it to my Table Top Tuesday party this afternoon. It is perfect for the party. Hugs, Marty

  3. I LOVE wildflowers. I used to pick like 30 bouquets a day for my Nanny who had land in Caldwell, TX. You should make a trip to Texas next spring and check out the fields of bluebonnets. Our last visit home we took the kids and had many pictures taken in the bluebonnet fields, some were mixed with indian paintbrush and some yellow flowers. Ahhhh I miss texas :)
I love your painting as well.

  4. Wildflower fields are so beautiful, Kristen, I agree! I love when we travel out of state by car and we come across places that have wildflowers growing in the highway dividing areas. Here we just have grass, trees, bushes and weeds so it really is a pleasure to drive through those states that plant wildflowers.

  6. We get fields of bluebonnets here inTX in the spring, we don't pick them but some have a tradition to have their kids photo taken every year in a field, they look so pretty (and it's our state flower).
I'm hoping to have a post up ready for this Thursday's show and sell!!

  7. How lovely. Your arrangement looks so pretty on your island, which I love. The photos of the wildflowers are gorgeous. Our state planted wildflowers in the median of the freeways and they are breathtaking. I'm visiting over from Marty's TT.
    Hope your week is great.

  8. I love your taste! You have an eye for beauty!

The wildflowers are cheerful and they do look nice on your island counter.

It would be fun to live in a place that had fields of wildflowers. I do go for country rides sometimes and see some pretty trees and fields, and some wildflowers...but not a lot.

  10. Hi Kristen, I love wild flowers as well but most of the time I'm unable to identify them...the only thing I can identify is Queen Anne's lace and I have that growing everywhere in our town... I love its delicate beauty...I think its very clever of you to be interested enough to learn their names and enjoy their beauty.Love your beautiful floral vignette on your island and those mossy birds are so adorable.Visiting from Marty's TTT. Have a lovely evening!~Poppy

  12. not too many wildflowers around here, but I have been known to stop by the side of the road to pick daisies, queen annes lace or tiger lilies! Your bouquet is lovely!

  15. I have lots of wild Phlox in my yard that blew in from the greenbelt next door. It is so pretty but is 3 feet tall and really does need to come out so my garden can grow.
Every year I wait until most of it is going to seed before I yank it all out until next year.

  19. Hi Kristen...

My friend, your yellow wildflower bouquet is sooo pretty! That bright yellow looks fabulous in your kitchen too! We don't have that type of wildflower here in Colorado...it's probably too cold for that variety. But...we do have some really pretty wildflowers as well. One variety of wildflower that is blooming right now grows on tall stems and is the prettiest shades of purple. I always go and pick them for a bouquet...and they outlast any other flower arrangement that I have ever had! Go figure! Hehe! Love your beautiful painting that you have over your mantel...that really IS a gorgeous field of flowers! You know, I lived 30 yrs. in south Texas and you should see the wildflowers down there...they are the prettiest that I've ever seen! The roadsides and fields are just covered in lavender and coral colored wildflowers. I know that that lavender ones are bluebonnets...not sure what the coral colored flowers are! I always stand in awe of the scenery that the Lord paints for us!

Have a fabulous day, sweet lady!

  21. I love wild flowers also! Love the ones you show here. What are they called? I painted a watercolor of a bluebird with yellow daisy-like flowers too. They could be sort of the same type flowers. There are beautiful wild tiger lilies all along the road leading up to my subdivision in Ohio I love looking at them..hope I don't crash my car looking at them someday
