I'm So Excited!!!!!

I am so excited!! Guess where I've been today? Yep...you guessed it, picking out granite! I know I said it would be a while before we would be able swing this, but things worked out in my favor! I mentioned that we went to my aunt's house on Easter. Well, she just had granite installed and she told me about the company she used and said that was very reasonable. She checked every place here and surrounding areas to find this company. So, I had them come over last week and give me an estimate. They were willing to come down to an affordable price and I was ecstatic!! Today, with my parents, we made a trip up north to pick out the granite. After looking at tons of slabs we finally made a decision and I am very pleased! I was sure to take my cabinet doors, tile and paint lid. That was a must! I have got to get some more of my paint...it's all dried up. lol...The granite is called venetian gold and picks up all the colors in my cabinets and tile. I love the black in it too...looks great with the new knobs. It was a little challenging finding something to look good with the green, but this slab worked! This slab, along with the slabs behind it, came in today. Talk about good timing!! They were still a little wet from all the rain and the salesperson said they will lighten up just a tad, but that will be ok .

LOVE IT! It looks so good with both cabinet doors...

Do you see the lighter part in the middle? That part was dry, he showed us from the back. So, he thinks the entire slab might end up being lighter like that.

This is a piece he broke off of another slab out of the same batch. It's dry and looks good to me!! They are coming to install it next Tuesday...the day after Memorial day. Can't wait!!

I hope you like it! Of course I will post pics right after it's installed!

Thank you to those of you who joined my Show And Sell party yesterday! I am going to add vintage to next week's party so be thinking about what you want to show and/or sell!

I am also going to start on Chase's room soon...you guys gave me some great ideas! Be sure and stay tuned for updates.

Have a great weekend!!

Congrats Kristen! Wow! That is really exciting news. I remember when we first installed our granite and how excited I was too. It really tranforms a kitchen in a very good way. My parents have the Venetian Gold color as well and it is gorgeous. You will LOVE it! You made a great choice. I can't wait to see it all installed in your home. I know it will be beautiful.

Have a nice weekend. I hope your weather is nice. We actually need some rain here. It's been so dry.

How exciting, Kristen! It's beautiful! Look at the size of that thing. It's amazing when you see it before it becomes a countertop. Can't wait to see it in place, and you don't have to wait long either!

That is exciting! I felt the same as you when we did the kitchen island. It is amazing how much of a change granite can make. I cannot wait to see it installed. Congrats!

Whoo-hoo! Congratulations!! You're going to love your new granite counters. They take a little getting used to, but you'll never want formica or tile again.

Yay! That will be gorgeous Kristen. Going to pick out granite is on our agenda too. I'm going to look at that particular granite because it would probably match all of my wood, tile, and colors also.

Your kitchen is just amazing.

Kristen, I have Venetian Gold in my kitchen, and I LOVE IT!!!! It is gorgeous with every color you want to use with it. I usually add items for the seasons to my kitchen like you do, and I have to tell you, you won't be disappointed with this choice. It goes beautifully with decor for all the seasons. Getting my granite in the kitchen was the best thing I ever did in my house besides painting my kitchen cabinets black. LOVE how it looks!! Can't wait to see yours!!!

Great choice Kristen! My granite is very much in that family. I just love the granite, it really transforms things. I am sure you will enjoy to for many years to come. The best cleaner I have ever found is called" Lustro Italiano:, It has no harsh detergents that strip the stones natural polish. Its great no streaks either. Can't wait for the installation!

Hi Kristen! I love your blog! I have a question. Did you distress your green cabinets yourself? If so, can you tell me the color combinations? I LOVE the look!!! Thank you and thanks for the inspirations!
