~Summertime~

Hey guys! I hope you are all staying cool! It's hot hot hot here in Arkansas! I snapped this picture of my little bird friend earlier today. He likes to hang out at the fountain to keep cool.

I showed you pictures of my front yard a while back, but thought I would show some more as everything is filling in.

Ahhh...a freshly mowed yard! The flowers are really filling in around the light post. I need a new "B" flag, my other one blew off. =(
Warning: For all my friends here in Arkansas...the Japanese beetles are really hitting hard right now! They have been chewing on my trees and crape Mertyls. You might want to check your yard for these, they can be treated with Seven.
More bad news...my squash and zuchini plants are rotting! I'm so upset! I don't know if it is too much water or bugs. If anyone has had this happen and knows what this could be please let me know.

On a better note...my other veggies are doing wonderful!

I can't wait to have fresh okra!
The tomatoes are growing like crazy! I'm going to have to stake them better.
It won't be long now...
Here is Chase's team at the end of the year tournament. They came in second place! Great job! Now that baseball is over...
here is something we are really looking forward to....Disney World!!! My mom and dad are taking us next week!! We can't wait! I would love your tips and suggestions if you have been there.

I hope you all are not too frustrated with my lack of posts lately. I have just not been creative lately and have not wanted to be on the computer. I remember I felt this way last summer. I think I need to change the title of my blog to "Where's Kristen's Creations?" lol... Please bear with me...because I will be back to filling my Etsy store and showing more decorating soon. I also have not been working lately either. Although, I will be going in soon to make fall arrangements and wreaths. I will be sure to post when I do. Oh...alot of you have asked about the mesh wreaths. I am planning on selling them this fall and Christmas. I am currently looking for a box source. That is my biggest problem...finding boxes to ship them in! If you have any suggestions please let me know. Thank you friends!!!

Oh I adore your yard and flower beds Kristen! It all looks gorgeous! No one does beds like yours. Thy remind me of your pretty flower arrangements. You can see your special touch in the design and layout. Great job!

Sorry about your little veggies. I have no experience with any of it. All of my flowers and ferns are doing terrible this year. We also have not had enough rain so our grass looks bad too. Sigh. I did buy some Sake Feed but no luck yet. I think I'm buying new ones soon. LOL!

Have a wonderful and safe vacation!

Hi Kristen, your yard is looking lovely. Not sure why your squash is rotting, ours could hardly get a start because of the beetles and I've noticed some of mine that I planted off to the side have started to look like they're rotting too, I just don't know what's causing it.
Hope you can find boxes for your lovely wreaths, that would be wonderful to be able to sell them :) Have fun at Disney.
Hugs Denise

Kristen, your squash have squash vine borers-its a worm that gets in the stem and eats from the inside out.You can take a knife and dig in and get the worm out, if you are brave enough. The best thing to do is to always cover several parts of the stem with dirt when they start to ren- it will root everywhere it is covered with dirt- then if the worms get in one part- just cut that part off.

Hi Kristen, I adore your front yard with your gorgeous fountain. I'm so sorry the beetles are eating your beautiful plants, is there anything you can spray to save your plants?? Have a wonderful safe and fun vacation..

Hi Kristen...I have missed you! It is so hard to post whith the kids home in the summertime...so much more fun to hang out with them;)!

Your front yard is soooo beautiful! Everything is filling in so well...so lush, green and colorful! I love it! All of your garden art is gorgeous too...the perfect special touch!

I have no idea how to help with the garden...I am still trying to talk hubby into making one for me. We are trying to decide on that or a chicken coop. Have you seen Heather Bullard's? That's the one I want!

Tell Chase congrats on doing so well with his baseball! How awesome that they came in second...he must be thrilled! I still can't believe how much he has grown:)!

Have a wonderful time in Florida...I want to see pics when you return! What a great family vacation...enjoy!

God bless you all and safe travels!

The garden is really filling in nicely. I wonder what is eating those plants.

Enjoy your vacation, Kristen! This is a quieter blog time I think. What with the weather being nicer and so many things that go on in these months, I think blogging takes the back seat that it really should.

I am excited you are going to be selling the wreaths!!! yeah! As far as Disney - buy really good sneakers - its alot of walking - something to hold water - cause it will be hot and lots of sunscreen! Enjoy - its a magical place!

Hi Kristen!
I love the pic of the bird on your fountain! I thought it was a part of it at first! lol Your yard looks so pretty!

Everything is filling in nicely! I had the same thing with my squash years ago and it was cutworms. Look at the base of the leaves to see if you can see where they have been eating. You can go out with a flashlight at night and pick them off the ground and kill them.

You will have so much fun at Disney world! My favorite moment was getting my picture made with Mickey! I had grown up with Mickey Mouse Club and the Mouseketeers, so that was the most important thing to me. Whoever is in that Mickey suit is so charming! I blubbered like a baby! We went to Mickey's house very first thing and the line was short. Have a great trip! Can't wait to hear about it!...hugs...Debbie

Your yard is looking great. Don't you just love this time of year? Everything is blooming and looks so fresh and pretty.

I've got squash vine borers, too. I hope you can save your plants.

Hi Kristen!
Love the look of your yard - everything looks so lovely.
I don't know anything about the garden but do hope you find a solution to the veggie boogers!

Here are some helpful tips I’ve found very useful when visiting Disney:
Take several ziploc bags and wash cloths into the park. We periodically wet our washcloths to wipe our face and neck…it’s sooooo hot down there!! You can use the Ziploc bags to keep things dry, store small items or store the wet wash cloths. Also, invest in a waterproof backpack. That way you know items like cell phones and cameras will remain dry when you go on a water ride. And don’t for get to pack snacks and water bottles…Disney food/drinks are not cheap!! Hope you have a great time!

Hi Kristen,
All your flowers are looking beautiful. You take such good care of them. I love the variety you have.
It's so hot down here, it's hard to keep them all watered.
I'm afraid to to on vacation. lol I'll have someone water them but it usually is not the same. When I get back, I find they are not up to par. Oh well, I can't let that stop me.

My mom lives near Orlando and I've been there many, many times in the past. Our daughter now lives by Disneyland in CA and we go there when we visit.
We always rent a locker when we enter for extra clothes or jackets. At times we have taken our lunch and use there eating area to take a break and safe a little money. We use a small backpack for water and a few snacks. They fit on all the rides with no problem.
In CA the nights get cool but I don't think you will have that worry in FL.
Chance may be out of the age to get pictures or autographs but the characters are always walking around and willing.
We stay till closing most times and see the fireworks or the night time parades. You will have a ball if you can withstand the heat. The shows are always fun.
Another tip--if you want to go on a popular ride go to "fast pass" and get tickets ahead of time. The fast pass station is at each of their most popular rides. You pick a time, punch your ticket in the machine and then return at that time and go right into the ride. Saves a lot of time. You can be on to other events then go back on your scheduled time.
sorry to bombard you with all of this. lol Let me know if you have questions on what I've told you.
Our daughter just went to the new color light show at Disney on Wed.
Thanks for your sweet comments on my blog.

You are not going to believe this. Almost all of the flowers and plants at our Lowes today were half dead and brown looking. I have never seen anything like it in the years that we have lived here. It was just awful. I bought 1tiny little trio that seemed just okay for my center table out back and a few more red throw pillows. We need so much more rain to catch up. I'm sure we are having a drought.

Have a great one and have fun!

We went to Disney in June once. I think it was in 03'? Try to stay as cool as possible. Wear light colors and drink plenty of water. It is so fun but really hot in Florida at this time of year. I think I would buy one of those little hand held battery fans to hold. Wear a hat to keep the sun off and VERY comfy shoes.

Enjoy!!! It IS the happiest place on earth for sure. HE!

Your yard looks so pretty. We haven't done much planting at our new home because we might move again and don't want to put more money into the house. I miss working in the yard. Our front is pretty but not the back.

About the garden, I don't have a clue about the squash but all of it looks great and I love me some fried okra:)

Have a great vacation at Disney. It is a wonderful place.

Hi there. I saw you on Miss Janice's blog and had to stop by; your comment cracked me up. I actually grew up in Ar. Funny enough, I now live in Florida and go to Disney ALL the time. We went last week and might go tomorrow.

Take a small back pack for water and a snack, this is allowed. Water there is not pricey, only $2.50 for Desani.

Get there early! We are having afternoon storms EVERY day. Plus you will want to get your fast pass, as one gal mentioned, for your fav ride. Space mtn fast passes DO run out. So do the Peter Pan FP's. Also, wait until later at night to go to Fantasyland, when the smaller children are gone. It's packed mid day!

We usually get our FP for Space Mtn, then ride the WDW Railroad to Frontierland to ride either Splash mtn or Big Thunder Mtn, which ever queue is shorter. if you want to go to Frontierland first, I suggest getting on the WDW Railroad just as you enter Main Street; it will save you a lot of walking.

The characters do not walk around, they have special places around the park for them. It is marked on the map by a Mickey hand.

Seeing the new Electrical Parade is a must and if you are a night owl wait until the last one, it's less crowded. Also, ride queues are shorter during the parades.

Little known fact... you can see the fireworks really well from Liberty Square. The new summer show is amazing and actually shoots off from many areas in the park! You will see fireworks all around you!

Plan any indoor shows for the afternoon because of the rain.

Pirates of the Caibbean ride never has a queue late at night.

The Fast Pass system is neat, but you are really only allowed ONE FP about every 2 hours. All the info you need is on the FP ticket you will receive.

All this info is for Disney's Magic Kingdom.

Be thankful you are coming next week and not this past week, because we had highs in the upper 90's! I think temps will be closer to normal next week. Enjoy and hop over to my blog if you have any questions!

Bless...Shell

Oh, btw, love your flowers and entry way to your home!

Your ladscaping looks great. The only problem I've had with squash in se Texas is cutting worms. I started using a metal rod cut from clothes hangers when I planted squash and had better luck. But I gave up on gardening when I got my dogs.
