Looking Back~~Memories Of My Old House~~

I hope you all are doing well out there in blog land! Everything is good on my end...just enjoying the nice hot weather here in Arkansas. Keeping up with my garden and flowers is almost a full time job! lol...
I swear every time I turn around a week has flown by! Chase will be out of school soon, I can't believe it! Anyway, I was looking through some of my old photos the other day and found some pictures of my old house. I have been struggling with what to post lately. You have seen almost everything in my house I live in now, so I thought I would show you my old house. We lived here for five years...it was a great first house. It had lots of character and charm and was built in 1923. I wish I had more pictures, but at least I have a few to show you. I painted the walls myself...I picked out a shade of green in the wooden sofa and chair pictured. I still have alot of the accessories in this room. My Nanny gave me the mirror above the mantle, it is now in my foyer.
I painted the walls in the dining room too...isn't the stained glass just beautiful! That is one thing that I fell in love with when we first looked at this house. I wanted to take it with me when we moved! I still have the dining room table and chairs and probably always will. It belonged to my mom and dad, I got it when they moved. This was our little T.V. room off the bedroom. It was nice and cozy, but really needed to be painted...I never got around to it though. Another thing I wanted to do in this house was take up all of the carpet, there was hardwood throughout the house, but alot of them needed to be redone and it was never in our budget.
Oh how I loved this claw foot tub!!
Kevin and his dad built this deck, it was great! I still have that patio furniture!! It's just revamped a little as you can see in my last post. We really enjoyed this deck...Good Times!
Awww...there's little Chase. I miss those days! See that yellow sofa? It didn't stay yellow for long...more like brown! That was not one of my best decorating decisions!lol... I wish I had more pictures of the other side of this room, it was really cute with all the windows.

I do miss this house sometime, but not the area it was in. There are alot of break ins and gangs in the area now. Also, people are not keeping the houses up...I drove by this one the other day and was very sad. It is so junked up! We were fortunate to sell when we did and build the house we are in now. I am soooo thankful!! Thanks for sharing some memories with me!

Yes sometimes it's hard to say goodbye to our old homes. But then again it is just a house, it's what you make a home. They say that nothing stays the same and you can never go back. So true!

I bet it was sad to go by your old home and see it was all junked up. I am glad thopugh that you did get out when you did, that doesn't sound like an area for a family thats for sure.
And OH! that clawfoot bathtub... so cool.
Have a pretty day,
Kristin

Aw Chase was so darling with that sweet smile.

Your house was beautiful and charming Kristen. I really like it and all of the special touches you had done to it. How neat to live in an older home like that. I have never done that before.

Love this post! Great idea. I've still got noyjing. Sigh.

Have a wonderful day. ~Melissa :)

I just saw pictures of my last house that I loved so much and often yearn for and was so disappointed at the shabby shape it was in. I guess we can never really go back. Your home was gorgeous and your memories are wonderful. I so agree, I am grateful and thankful for the home we have now. Yours is stunning. Hugs, Marty

I LOVE the bath tub! If I could change one thing in my house it would be to have one of those!

What a sweet home! I miss my clawfoot tubs I had in my Victorian. Well, for that matter, I REALLY miss my Victorian. But I made the decision to downsize so now I am trying to work with that.

Hi Kristen! What a sweet little house you had. Isn't is sad to see the area going bad? It happens in so many places today.
But, how sweet it was. You were a wonderful little decorator then too. Look at your little son, wasn't he a little darling?
Thanks for sharing your little olden house with us.
Be a sweetie,
shelia ;)

How true, you can't go back. I know the elderly lady that used to live next door to us would just pass out if she saw how poorly her house looks now. She kept if meticulously and now it looks like the rental property that it is.

What a lovely home...and yes, the stained glass windows are beautiful. It is truly sad when people do not take care of homes and yards ~ I've never understood that. I'm sure it did make you sad to see it now.

Thanks for sharing!
Pat

I forgot to say thanks for the kind words on my cut finger. It was so gross and scary. I almost thought I needed stitches and I have never had to get them before.
Knock on wood! :)

I left it on your previous post. Oops! :)

What a charming little house! We are on number three but now are back in the same neighborhood as our first home that we built. We spent almost 5 years there and had two babies. I use to cry when we would visit our old friends there after we moved out of state. Now not so much. The person who bought it was AWFUL but he does keep it up. I drive by it when we visit our friends and can not help but wish he would sell so I can see what he has done to the inside. The neighbors ll can't stand him so I am sure they wish he would move too!:)

I know that it is fun to go back down memory lane. I haven't had the heart to do that yet. I am only 6 months removed from our old house so it is still too fresh.

My first home was a 20's bungelow. I loved that house. Yours was charming too.
