Met Monday...Initial pillow

Hey guys! I'm joining Susan at Between Naps on the Porch today for Met Monday. What a great event! You can get some great ideas so be sure and visit her blog for a list of participants. This is a really simple little no sew project I did a while back. I already had the red pillow, but wanted to dress it up with an initial. I thought and thought and finally came up with a way to do this. I found the black pillow at Hobby Lobby half off and decided to buy it and cut the "B" out. I hoped it would work or I would have ruined a perfectly good pillow and lost my money. I actually tried the black pillow before cutting it up, but it was just a little bit boring. Anyway, I have had that yard of fringe for ever! I can't remember what I bought it for but it must not have worked. I also added some zebra striped ribbon that's not pictured here...you will see in the last pics.

I was so nervous cutting up that pillow! I cut it to size and hot glued it around the edges.

Next I glued on the fringe...I ended up cutting the fringe as you will be able to tell in the last pics. It was just a little too thick and bulky for this small pillow.

Here it is before...

And after...

See how I cut the fringe and added the zebra ribbon?(click to enlarge) I found
the ribbon a few days later and just glued it on. This turned out to be pretty simple after all and I Love the black background of the "B". I am adding some new pillows to my sofa too. Still working on that!
I hope you enjoyed this small transformation! I am redoing a desk to do my crafts on and hope to have it done for the next Met Monday! Maybe that will motivate me! Have a great week!

  2. Hi Kristen!
I love this pillow! Of course my last name starts with the letter "B" so it's a winner for me! I love the zebra ribbon. What a great contrast. I love the look of your blog - the colors are so warm. How did you get one of you pictures as a background with your blog title? When you get a chance stop over at Carolina Panache. I've been rather absent lately but things have settled down and I've started blogging again. Hope to see you around. Oh, by the way how much would you sell that sweet little pillow for?
    Warmly,
    Alisa

  24. Hi Kristen, Thanks for the sweet comments you left! I have so enjoyed your blog! Your home and "creations" are beautiful! And I also enjoyed and gained a lot of inspiration from your aunt and uncle's amazing home posts! It is like a breath of fresh air coming over here to your blog! Love it! :)

I found the butterfly napkin rings on eBay several years ago, and was afraid they probably weren't availabe any more. But I just looked and they are!!! The item number is #250315245759, "12 napkin rings butterfly gold metal new," and the seller is Judilan. They offer one or multiple sets of 12. I have enjoyed! ...so versatile! :)

  27. Hello Kristen,
I have been asked by my sweet blog friend Jane at "Blondie's Journal" how I make my pretty bows on my stuff? I must tell you that you are my inspiration! I really have no clue what I'm doing though. I just copy yours as close as I can.
LOL! Do you think you can do a post on this topic soon?
    Thanks in advance my friend.
I know we would all appreciate it very much.

I'm soooo happy you are doing better! ~Awesome news! I hope and pray Kevin's surgery goes well too. It must be very soon right?

  28. Thank you very much Kristen! I think it would be cute to hear your accent on a video. HeHe! Don't we all have at least a little bit of one living in the South? I'm sure I do.

Keep us posted on your hubby. I'm glad it worked out and they got the paperwork straight.

  29. Kristen, your pillow turned out just amazing! Love all your frames too. You are so talented.

I just love to click on your blog and see all the pics of your home. I have been admiring some drapes that are very similar to yours. We have the same colors in our homes - you and I that is. It helps me to see your drapes with the yellowish walls and the green fabrics too. Love it!!
